A wee toad, just the right shade of green and brown, sitting on my back step in a heavily misted afternoon, where he contemplated the words “dance first, think later” which are carved into concrete.

The bottoms of my feet quietly setting down on wet city sidewalks and later looking fetchingly smooth and touchable.

The casual intensity of working islanders who give up their posts to swarm the street and gawk northward when two firetrucks pass with lights and sirens.

The translucent colour of brewed tea inside my white porcelain cup.

A mother pushing a laden grocery cart through the parking lot, totally engaged in her infant on board.

The tugged down forehead and stretch of mouth of a child squinting into the sun.

A large honey moon, hanging low and laden in the sky watching over my ferry crossing home.

A gathering of the most amazing women, knit tightly together in a circle singing death, weeping loss, keening the presence of absence. Honouring sisters.

Sweet, juicy berries dribbling and staining fingers and lips.

The precision and economy of movement of landscapers laying earthy symmetrical brick sidewalks.

Finding jam in the cupboard when you are told there is jam in the cupboard.

Spider webs, strung impossibly large and lusciously swaying in the breeze, spanning surprising spaces and glistening in the moisture of morning.

A bwoofy beagle, worn by years of hugs and cuddles, slaloming the hardwood stairs.

Clouds of Queen Anne’s Lace floating softly on either side of the highway.

Sharing a breakfast table with strangers and having a grand conversation with them.

Young professional women bicycling to work because they love to cycle and they love the world.

The morning sun gently parting early fogs which linger lovingly over warm, living fields.

There’s absolutely nothing like receiving books you’ve wanted for a long time in the mail. Especially comedies about estranged housewives so into mainstream that it’s obsession.

Saw car lights shaped like flowers for the first time today. It made me irrationally happy for no particular reason.

Freckled people seem to nearly always be lovely and cheerful. Smiles coupled with freckles just make people glow.

Dog days. A narrow bridge. Casting shadows. A tidal river. Cold and inviting. Squeals. Dripping cut offs. Ankles on rails. Knots of happy. Summer children.

Translucent and gently scented Luscious Watermelon tea; iced and agave sweetened.

soothing winds, carefree boys, no wilting vines

Lounging in the warm sun, enticed to sleep by the lullaby black poplar leaves in gusts of 40km/h winds.

The jaunty set of ball caps, perched backwards and slightly askew, on young school lads as they head home on skateboards with a summer of wonder stretching beyond their imaginations.

Clematis blossoms gathered in tight knots, blushing in the sun and whispering of hot summer nights.
